Meena’s parents who are very typical. They are both described as warm and loving and dedicated to their family and we see from Meena that she wishes to do right by them and often protects them from the wider community. She wants to rebel from them in order to ‘find herself’ but soon finds that rebelling alone is not the only way to be an individual.
