Tollington’s ‘bad boy’ who, at sixteen, has a criminal record. He has his own little gang that he uses to torment and bully younger children around the village but he appears to save Meena from their actions but Meena soon discovers he also shares highly insular and racist opinions that he verbalises to the whole village. However, he cannot appear to understand how Meena may be affected by his words, showing his ignorance
