Father Jack Mundy
Jack works as a missionary in Uganda for the past twenty five years. Previously he was a Catholic chaplain in the British army during World War I, serving in East Africa, which made him want to return when the war was over. In Donegal he is held in high regard because he is working in a leper colony.
He has an appreciation for the pagan faiths of the people he encountered in Uganda. Which annoys Kate, as the reputation of the family is far more of a priority for her. Jack suffers as a result of his malaria, however he dies of a heart attack soon after the end of the events shown in the play.
‘Father Jack gave us that little bit of status in the eyes of the Parish’
