


Bailey Johnson Jr
Maya’s older brother who is also mature and perceptive. He differs from his sister in that he is more extroverted and willing to socialise, but he still possesses that deeper emotion and care for his sister.
He also differs from Maya in his response to the racism the pair face in the south especially. Whereas Maya dwells upon the comments, Bailey turns off his mind and detaches himself from the scene, ignoring it, although it inevitably finds its way to affecting him.
