The last man that Lillian forges a relationship with, Jonah is a man eager to marry Lillian but she refuses. Despite that, he warmly welcomes the family and tries his best to act as a father. Their time together sees immense sadness in the form of Lillian’s miscarriages, which distracts Jonah enough to be fired from his job. 

Failing to get back into the market makes him immensely stressed, resorting to alcohol to ease his pain. When Sara falls sick and dies, it becomes too much for him and he commits suicide in a well.
