-The Great Gatsby-

Meyer Wolfsheim

A prominent figure in organized underworld crime and a business associate of Gatsby. Meyer claims credit for fixing the 1919 World Series and embodies Fitzgerald’s personal views of the Roaring Twenties ( barbarism and refinement)  with Meyer’s cuff links are made from human molars which is a detail that shows the difference in personalities.

Before the events of the novel take place, Wolfsheim helped Gatsby to make his fortune bootlegging illegal liquor. His continued acquaintance with Gatsby suggests that Gatsby is still involved in illegal business. When Gatsby dies Wolfsheim is one of the only people to express his genuine grief or condolences.
