Kathy harkens back to Norfolk as the place where all lost things go and a veteran couple, Chrissie and Rodney, who are friendly with Ruth, tell her that they saw someone who could be a ‘possible’ for her in Norfolk. A ‘possibe’, as we learn from Kathy, is someone who may be the model for the cloning process. Kathy then grows suspicious of Chrissie.
Who persistently asks Ruth about her dream office, a job she has wanted for a while, as Kathy believes that others view Halisham students as privileged. Nonetheless, Chrissie and Rodney offer to take Ruth to Norfolk to see this woman and Tommy and Kathy tag along.
